Liz Tsao
A native of Taiwan, Li-Tsu (Liz) Tsao began her music studies at the age of 6. With a strong passion for music, She earned her Bachelor's degree in Cello Performance from National Taiwan Normal University under Professor Ling-Yi OuYang and later completed her Master’s degree with scholarship in Cello Performance from Michigan State University with professor Suren Bagratuni, winner of the Silver Medal at the 1986 Tchaikovsky Competition.
Tsao is an active professional cellist in solo, orchestra, chamber music, and festival performances. As a soloist, Tsao has performed at the New York Carnegie Hall in the American Protégé winner concert, E. Elgar Cello Concerto with NTNU New Music Orchestra, and various solo performances throughout Taiwan and the United States. Through her scholarship awards, Tsao has also received invitations to many international music festivals across Asia, Europe, and the States, including Japan Kirishima International Music Festival, New England Conservatory Orchestra Festival, Festival Napa Valley Music Festival, SLSQ Chamber Music Seminar at Stanford, The Collaborative Piano Institution music festival and “Master Classes at the Centro Studi Carlo Della Giacoma” in Italy.
Throughout her career, Liz has performed with esteemed orchestras, including the Michigan Lansing Symphony, Alma Symphony, Taiwan ProArte Orchestra, Taipei Century Symphony Orchestra, and Taipei Chinese Orchestra. She has played in renowned concert halls such as the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Hall, Napa Valley Performing Arts Center, Taiwan National Concert Hall, and Kirishima International Concert Hall.
Her recent appearance was with Palo Alto Philharmonic perform at the Cubberly Theater featuring Heidi Moss Erickson with Strauss’s Four last songs, Peer gynt suite by Grieg and Farrenc’s overture. She also performed Brahms Strings Sextet op.18 chamber music concert with the philharmonic in Lutheran Church of Palo Alto. Li-Tsu will have another concert with her piano trio “Hibiscus Trio” in December to perform Piazolla’s Four Seasons and selected South America music. The Hibiscus Trio was accepted by St. Lawrence String Quartet and The Collaborative Piano Institution music festival during the summer with full scholarship.
